Defense of the Ancients (D.O.T.A.)

I think most of us have heard of DOTA before. It's basically a Warcraft III custom map that allows 1 team of players to play against another team. Each player is able to choose a hero that has his or her own unique strengths and abilities.

I first bought the game about 2 months back, and started playing quite regularly here and there.

Till date, somehow, I still have not really mastered the game. For reasons unknown, the team that I'm in somehow usually lose.

The screen capture below shows one of the few times that I actually won, and I managed to get some good items (come on, it wasn't easy for me to get a Butterfly).

And I actually did pretty average as compared to other players (I'm ranked 4th below).

There's something inside me that always want to win. Hence, I get very frustrated when I lose games, even computer games like DOTA. I had never liked admitting that I'm bad at something.

I have come to a conclusion: My dota skills are really quite bad, despite consistent practise.

But honestly, so what if I always win in DOTA? That's just a virtual world and there's no prizes for it (unless I'm so good I play in WCG & win!!). I would prefer to be able to succeed in real-life.

I should focus my energy and competitive spirit in other areas of my life - like how to become a good & inspiring teacher. I think that's something that's more worthwhile to pursue.

Perhaps we should all stop and ponder: Is there anything in my life that I'm going after blindly? Is this thing worthwhile?

At different phases of life, people going after different things. To some, it might be not worthwhile, but to others it might be. People grow, people change, people think differently, that's part of the life process. People dream of this and that, but once they achieve it, will they have sacrifice something forever? As many would say, Life's a journey, not a destination. So enjoy the process of life, not just chasing the outcome you hoped for, that will make your life a little happier.

Thanks once again for ur comments. :) Perhaps u can put a simple nick to ur name instead of anonymous?

I think life is as much about the destination as it is about the process. If we only enjoy the process, without looking ahead at what we hope for or dream of, we might really end up with nothing.

I agree that people change. But as we grow older, we should become more stable and begin to work towards things that we want to have eventually in our life.

And that requires us to have a big dream. A dream that we're willing to die for and spend our whole life on it.

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a
pretty penny? I'm not very internet savvy so I'm not 100% certain.
Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Appreciate it

Hi! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I'd figured I'd ask.
Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring
a blog article or vice-versa? My website discusses a lot of the same topics as yours and I think
we could greatly benefit from each other. If you're interested feel free to send me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Excellent blog by the way!
